The biggest difference is the preparation of the cornea before excimer laser.
In LASIK, a flap is fashioned on the surface of the cornea.
In PRK, the thin corneal surface epithelium is removed.
PRK healing is slightly longer with a bit more discomfort, but the outcomes are similar.
